Edge computing : could you be missing out ?

Edge computing : could you be missing out ?

Edge computing solves the problem of too much data moving too quickly.

This technique is different from cloud computing. Both are non-interchangeable technologies that cannot replace one another. Here is how:

This optimization method is used to process time-sensitive data, while cloud computing is used to process data that is not time-driven.

The thing is, you could be missing out on these potential benefits of this technique :

First, having edge computing can help keep costs associated with data spikes in check, or at least keep them from rising as high as possible, because data is less moved back and forth to the cloud.

Additionally, organizations can scale at the edge more effectively since endpoint, and edge devices frequently cost less than adding more computer resources within a centralized data center.

Edge computing also increases resilience by minimizing a central point of failure. Hence, a failure at one edge device won’t affect the operation of other edge devices in the ecosystem, boosting the reliability of the entire connected environment.

There are several other edge computing benefits businesses can tap into to create a robust and efficient system.

But make no mistake. Edge computing will not replace the need for centralized servers and cloud computing. Instead, it will work with those elements to create a hyperconnected world.
